We are part of the National Association of Chimney Sweeps (NACS)
All members must undertake compulsory training and on-site assessments. We are also checked for public liability insurance and all the necessary tools and adequate equipment to ensure the public is well protected by the services of a professional sweep
We stock a comprehensive range of different brushes and tools to tackle the vast variety of chimneys, flues and appliances. We also carry sophisticated equipment such as CCTV cameras for the testing and surveying of chimneys and for diagnosing chimney faults on new and existing flue installations.
A STANDARD CLEAN CONSISTS OF:
Cleaning the inside of a chimney flue and removing creosote is a major part of cleaning, using the latest technology ‘Rotary Power Sweep.
The whole system is cleaned from the fire box to the chimney cap. Drop cloths are laid throughout the work area to ensure cleanliness at all times and a vacuum cleaner is used constantly to reduce dust and removal of soot.
Sweeping gets rid of soot and other residue, allowing dangerous gas to leave your home safely.
SMOKE TEST
If necessary we will carry out a smoke test to establish whether or not a chimney flue is sound and fit for use and has adequate draught to ensure the safe removal of smoke and to ensure that the combustion gasses evacuate from the fireplace upwards and out through the chimney pot and not leak into any other areas which surround the chimney system.
BIRDS NESTS
Unfortunately it is possible that your chimney may become blocked due to a birds nest.
We offer a bird nest removal service which can take place during your chimney cleaning and/or stove service. We install bird guards to ensure that your chimney remains unblocked.
CAPPED CHIMNEY
We are able to cap chimneys but also please be aware that any unused chimney should always be swept and given a little ventilation top and bottom. If a chimney is capped off it can get damp. This can turn soot in to acidic slurry. In an old chimney this slurry can soak into the internal walls causing severe problems.
CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR
We cannot stress enough the importance of installing a working carbon monoxide (CO) alarm.
It is recommended that a CO alarm should always be maintained, as should smoke alarms.
CO alarms give a level of reassurance to the householder that they will be alerted if the invisible, odourless and dangerous gas is present in the home. A CO alarm should be situated correctly (please see ‘Hetas Carbon Monoxide’ leaflet by visiting www.hetas.co.uk for more information)
